May Updates

Bantamweight

Cherneka Johnson enters at #5, nudging Nina Hughes out of the ratings, following her 10-round majority decision over the Englishwoman on May 12th, in which she also collected the WBA belt.

Welterweight

Lauren Price became The Woman that beat The Woman, defeating Jessica McCaskill via 9th-round technical decision after a swelling over McCaksill’s left eye (caused by an earlier accidental clash of heads) meant the bout had to be halted. The scorecards were 90-82 x3. With the victory, at 23 months and 7 fights - this was the fastest any woman has ever become Lineal World Champion.

The previous record for fewest pro. fights (9 fights) and shortest time (2 years 4 months) needed to win a Lineal Championship was held by Claressa Shields, when she defeated Christina Hammer to fill the middleweight vacancy in 2019.

This one sided loss combined with McCaskill’s controversial draw with Sandy Ryan in her last fight (many observers felt Ryan was a clear winner), means McCaskill drops to #4 in the ratings. Habazin falls to #5.
