November 2021 Ratings – Updates
* The Lineal Boxing Champion monthly ratings are produced by an international panel of 10 boxing analysts. Boxers are ranked according to ability and accomplishments in their respective weight classes. When our ratings began in April 2019 (the first non-computerised monthly rankings to have ever been produced in women’s boxing), fighters who had been inactive for 12 months, with still no fights scheduled, were removed from the ratings. As the 2020-21 pandemic severely interfered with the boxing schedule for approximately one year, it seems only fair to lengthen our inactivity rule to 24 months. By the middle of 2022, the inactivity rule will once again return to 12 months.
Strawweight
Vietnam’s Thi Thu Nhi Nguyen won a unanimous decision over #2 rated Etsuko Tada in South Korea to win the WBO strap and enter our rankings at #4. Rupprecht and Valle move up to #2 and #3 respectively, and Tada exits.
Junior Flyweight
Kenia Enriquez, approaching 2 years of inactivity and still with no fight scheduled, exits the ratings. Yesica Bopp bounced back from her bantamweight defeat in September, with a 4th round TKO of Johana Zuniga at junior flyweight, enters at #5. Tsunami, Gomez, and Bermudez each move up one place.
Bantamweight
Mariana Juarez lost a one-sided decision to Jackie Nava – although the bout was at junior featherweight, this was 41-year-old Mariana’s second heavy defeat in her last three bouts, resulting in her dropping to #5 in our ratings. Roman, Munoz and Mitchell each move up one place.
Junior Featherweight
In Tijuana, 41-year-old Jackie Nava thrashed Mariana Juarez over ten rounds in an all-Mexican junior featherweight clash – this was Nava’s 4th victory at 122lbs in just 16 months and elevates her to the top of our divisional rankings. Rivas and Mercado each move down one place.
Junior Lightweight
Mikaela Mayer (#3 last month) switches places with last month’s #1, Maiva Hamadouche after outpointing her in Las Vegas on November 5th. The scores were wide, but most observers viewed it to be a close, highly competitive bout. Delfine Persoon beat Beatriz Aguilar, but her Mexican opponent had lost three of her last four bouts and has never won a significant bout in her professional career – as such, Persoon remains at #4.
Junior Welterweight
At the O2 Arena in London, England, Chantelle Cameron triumphed by scores of 99-91, 100-90, and 99-92, in a battle between the two best women in the weight class, to crown a new Lineal Champion. McGee’s strong effort in the final two rounds against an opponent who was in blistering form, means she deservedly holds onto her #2 spot, above Kali Reis. Diana Prazak, who pushed Reis to the wire earlier this year, enters at #5.
Junior Middleweight
Hannah Rankin’s 10-round decision win over Maria Lindberg means she enters at #4. Vidal and Namus exit. Chevelle Hallback enters at #5.
Pound-For-Pound:
Cameron and Mayer gate-crash the P4P top 10, at #7 and #8 respectively, after big wins over quality opposition in their divisions. Luna Avila and Hamadouche exits the list. Braekhus, having had back-to-back losses, and still with no fight scheduled, drops to #10. Fujioka moves to #10, Estrada to #6, and Serrano to #3.
