On January 11th, 2020, the top two female Super Middleweights in the world - Franchon Crews and Alejandra Jimenez - squared off in a fight that was set to crown a true Super Middleweight Champion. Mexican Jimenez emerged victorious via a 10 round split decision in San Antonio, Texas.
The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association announcesd on January 24th, 2020, that Alejandra’s “A Sample,” provided the day before the fight, had tested positive for the banned substance stanozolol.
On February 10th, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation changed the result of the fight to a “No Decision.”
Consequently, the WBO stripped Jimenez of their belt in March.
The WBC began an investigation into the positive test, which was completed 2 weeks ago. Jimenez acknowledged the positive result, but denied knowingly taking a banned substance. As well as being suspended until October 21st 2020, Jimenez was stripped of her WBC title. She has not been fined, but will be on probation until October 2021.
The WBC agreed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that the fight result should be altered to a “No Decision.”
Crews was the WBO/WBC title holder before the Jimenez fight. Those belts have been returned to her.
Jimenez will be absent from our monthly, divisional, Super Middleweight ratings until her suspension has ended, and she has had a comeback fight.
As the Jimenez/Crews result has effectively been erased, The World Championship at 168lbs (Lineal) is now once again vacant.
Divisional Ratings: June 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for another month, none of the boxers in the 15 weight classes in our ratings have been in action, so there have been no changes.
