February 2021 Ratings – Updates

*A fighter is typically removed from our ratings, if she has been inactive from her weight class for 12 months, and still has no fight scheduled. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, few fights have been taking place, so extra allowances have been given.

Junior Bantamweight

Micaela Lujan moves to #3 following her January 30th 10 round decision over Debora Gomez. Guanini drops to #4.

Junior Featherweight

Marcela Eliana Acuna (#2), whose last fight was a draw to Jackie Nava back in May 2019, exits the ratings, resulting in Rivas and Thorslund each moving up a place. Yamileth Mercado enters at #4, following her unanimous decision over Julissa Guzman for the WBC belt on February 6th.

Heavyweight

On January 25th, Terrence Reid-Batchelor (Geovana Peres’ trainer) announced on his Facebook page that “Geovana Peres has now retired from boxing,” going on to thank all the people that had helped their team along the way.  Later that day, Geovana responded to the social media post, commenting, “What a hell of a journey! New beginnings on the way…”

The heavyweight championship is now vacant.

Pound-For-Pound: Our overall Pound-for-Pound top 10 is now worked out by allocating points to each panellist’s top 10, and totalling the figures – so, 10 points for each panellist’s #1, 9 points for #2...1 point for #10.
